For him, it was that whole love-at-first-sight gig. The moment he meet her he knew that she was the girl he wanted. He was intrigued by her and soon found himself in the beginning stages of a life-long friendship. And of course, he hoped that someday he could call Megan his bride. But that someday was a few years away for him as he had some pursuing today. He didn’t rush and trusted that all would be as it should be in due time. So they grew their friendship over the years, spending time together when their travels and adventures brought them together, but mostly an email here and a phone call there kept them in contact as they inched along in their respective scholastic and professional endeavors. She was in Texas and he in LA.

Finally, during a trip to visit friends in LA, Megan spent an afternoon with Patrick at the Santa Monica Pier, and soon found herself smitten with the man who she would soon call her husband. It was in those moments on the Pier that a deeper, more intimate relationship began to form, one that would continue to strengthen as the days and moments together passed. Together they are better and it’s evident that while the may be distinctly different, hey are uniquely made for each other. They are both adventurous, self-proclaimed foodies, and travel-obsessed. They love deep, enriching conversations over tea and good food and movies with friends. And all the while, they laugh. Together. And never cease to remind to enjoy the simple things in life and to savor the new experiences and moments they share with one another and those they care about most.

Their wedding was no exception to this rule. It was simply gorgeous, rich with emotion & family tradition. In between grad school courses, they planned a unique wedding that was authentic to who they are and was a beautiful celebration of the start of their marriage. And Isaac and I were invited out to Texas to document it all. What an honor (and adventure) it was. I give you Megan + Patrick’s wedding editorial at Briscoe Manor. STORYTIME….so, the event took place at the beautiful Briscoe Manor located in the ranchlands surrounding Richmond, Texas (which is an hour or so outside of Houston). We arrived the day of the rehearsal after having taken a red-eye the night before in order that we would have ample time to get to the hotel and scope out the place before the big day. So we met up with the crew at the rehearsal, tested lighting, scoped out the venue, and schemed up epic plans for the next day. We got a bit carried away in our schemes, and were thereby unknowingly left behind and locked inside the gates of the property. Wah wah. We tried to get ahold of the coordinator, but failed. Then I tried to flag down the neighboring rancher to see if we might take the Kia off road through his pasture to escape, but he was too busy flying his kite. Literally. We  contemplated driving through the front pasture and busting down the gate on the other side, but alas there was an electric fence and ummm, a herd of LONGHORNS we’d have to combat! And so, we finally got the clever idea to call the security company who’s sign was out front, and alert them that we were trying to break OUT of the property. They seemed not care at first. At all. And told Isaac they weren’t sure they could help. Pah-lease. He suggested that he might just throw a rock through the chapel window so that they would have reason to come. And so, with some finagling, he finally got us in touch with the owner who the sent the coordinator to the rescue. Whew. Haha. Hilarious and quite memorable to be sure.

Okay, now back to the main event…

Here are a few preparations shots from the bridal suite…

The beautiful bride was calm and easy going and such a joy to be around….a her bridesmaids were awesome!

Her fierce red pumps…

Umm, hello gorgeous window light and awesome oak tree. Iloveyousomuch!

We asked them all to work-it and this is what resulted. I love it!

Megan’s gorgeous bouquet designed by Fresh Blooms of Houston.

Patrick & his boys…

Next up was the first look. We wanted to set this up in a beautiful and intimate location, so we found this epic oak tree near the front of the property and asked if they were willing to venture out there. And they obliged, happily. So Isaac escorted Patrick in position and I drove Megan down in our (ugly) rental car. We had Megan put on the cowboy boots and set her free in the field. It.Was.AWESOME! and we got some epic photos as a result…

Then we headed into the chapel for some natural window light shots…

How perfect are those two chairs and the lil’ tree? bam!

Ceremony time…

There was a wall for all the grooms to sign. so cool…

And a few more favs from the ceremony…

The reception…delicious cupcakes by More Than Cakes.

And finally the awesome bubble exit!
