Last week, Isaac and I met up with my Auntie and cousin to check out the much talked about Tim Burton Exhibition at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. And let me tell you, it was incredible. That man is quite accomplished and his vivid imagination and impeccable technique has produced quite a remarkable and expansive body of work. If you’ve not yet seen it, hurry! It’s closing on Halloween. So if you’re free this weekend, get your tickets here!

On an entirely different note, right next to the Tim Burton exhibition is the coolest, most squeal-inducing exhibition I’ve seen in a long time. It’s called California Design, 1930–1965: “Living in a Modern Way”.  And oh-em-gee, I nearly wet myself when we stumbled across it. It spoke to my modern soul, and I made at least five laps around the place snapping hoards of photos. Yes, photography was permitted in this one. I asked. I know, I know, I’m such a rule follower. But those security guards are vigilant and scary. Haha. Here’s a handful of my favorite pieces on display, but please do go check it out for yourself. I just read that it’s open till June 2012, so that leaves ample time for me to go again. And again. So if you plan on going, let me know and I’ll tag along.

Hello geometric graphic design and awesome lamp.

I’m a huge fan of pairing dark wood and white together. And this below is perfection.

Mid-centry ceramics. Sleek and minimalist yet full of movement.

The classic American icon…Airstream!

I love a good mid-century fiberglass chair.

Geometric jewelry? I die. How can I get my hands on something like this for a shoot?!

After we toured the Tim Burton exhibition and I made another lap around the California Design exhibition, we ventured over to Joan’s On Third and partook in one of the best dining experience we’ve all had in quite some time. This place is fabulous. It has tons of yummy treats, gourmet meats, breads and cheeses and the most fantastic sammies, soups and salads. Seriously, it was amazing.I had a maple rosemary grilled chicken sammie on a rustic roll and the best gooey, chocolatey brownie ever. Go there right now and get one. You won’t regret it.

And to end, here are a few shots of Isaac and I experiencing the art…

See we are fun. You should come art-museuming with us something. 🙂

That’s it for now. Oh happy day.
